Dr İlhan Öztekin, MD, Prof., PhD, Turkey
Ilhan Oztekin is the current president of Istanbul Medical Acupuncture and Complementary Medicine Association, the oldest organization of physicians practicing acupuncture in Turkey. He graduated from medical school at Istanbul University in 1985 and competed residency training in Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine. He is still work as a Professor in Trakya University Medical Faculty, Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine, Edirne. He began studying acupuncture theory and practice in 1991 and studied with Prof.Dr. Johanesse Bischko of Ludwig Boltzmann Acupuncture Institute, Vienna, Austria for taking an Diploma of Acupuncture in 1994 and four years with Prof.Dr.Abdulkadir Erengul in Istanbul Medical Acupuncture Association. He was a member of Acupuncture Scientific Committee of Turkish Health Ministry during 2010-2013 and is a teacher and chairperson of Turkish Health Ministry Acupuncture Courses in several Universities since 2007. He was President of 9th.Turkish Medical Acupuncture Congress in 2016. He is interested in Spinal Pain interventional therapies and acupuncture practice and also in the fostering of meaningful dialog with our colleagues in regular medicine about acupuncture’s value in modern medical practice.
Dr Rong Peijing, MD, Prof., PhD, China
Dr. Rong Peijing is a Professor and an academic leader of acupuncture in China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences (CACMS). She received her Bachelor’s, Master and Ph.D. degrees from Beijing University of Chinese Medicine before she finished postdoctoral visiting study at faculty of neurosciences in Hong Kong Baptist University and Los Angeles Biomedical Research Institute at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. Her research interests are involved in mechanisms underlying acupuncture. She has made series studies on pain physiology and acupuncture analgesia, also conducted translational medicine study, and proposed treating on chronic pain. Currently she is the Associate Director of the Committee of Auricular Acupuncture and the Secretary General of the Academic Committee of China Association of Acupuncture and Moxibustion (CAAM). She’s got the financial supports from the International Association on the study of Pain (IASP), the International Union of Physiological Sciences (IUPS) and the International Brain Research Organization (IBRO). She was awarded the Distinguished Young Investigator by the Federation of the Asian and Oceania Physiological Societies (FAOPS). She’s served more than 20 international conferences as a chair/pc member and offered the keynotes/talks in high ranking conferences or universities, and has also served as editor/guest editor in about 10 peer reviewed journals in professional science. So far, she has published over 100 original papers, including Biological Psychiatry, J Pain, J Affective Disorders., PLoS One,et al.
Dr Gerhard Litscher Univ.Prof.,MSc PhD MDsc Medical University of Graz, Austria
Head of the Research Unit for Complementary and Integrative Laser Medicine, of the Research Unit of Biomedical Engineering in Anesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine, and of the TCM Research Center Graz at the Medical University of Graz, Doctor of technical and Doctor of medical sciences, several research stays and international lectures, about 600 scientific publications (180 SCI/pubmed listed), partly on basic acupuncture research, author and/or editor of eleven books, currently editor-in-chief and/or member of the editorial board of more than 30 international scientific journals (e.g. Editor-in-chief of the Internet Journal of Alternative Medicine (IJAM), Associate Editor for Medical Acupuncture, Associate Editor of the Journal of Acupuncture and Meridian Studies (JAMS), one of the editors, lead guest editor and guest editor of Evidence-based Complementary and Alternative Medicine (eCAM), Associate Editor of BMC Complementary and Alternative Medicine, Associate Editor of Integrative Medicine International, Senior Editor of the Journal of Pharmacopuncture). Dr Antonio C. Sant’Ana MD, Bauru Estadual Hospital, Brazil
Dr. Sant’Ana is a MD General Practitioner and TCM Practitioner, with experience in both systemic and microsystemic acupuncture. His acupuncture practice covers private office as well as ambulatorial and inpatient hospital assistance. Presently working as an independent researcher in non linear measures, which includes fractal geometry, quantum physics, complexity and chaos theory. He has a Master degree in Public Health, working on the development of innovative trends in medical measures and the possible medical applications of fractals, chaos and complexity, as well as directing his activities to data basis and software development for non linear measures.
Dr Daniela Litscher. Msc, PhD, TCM Medical University of Graz, Austria
Daniela Litscher studied Pharmacy at the Karl-Franzens University of Graz, Austria (from September 2008 to March 2013). Her diploma thesis dealt with “Pharmacopuncture”. She received her Master degree in Pharmacy (MSc) on March 20, 2013. She got her PhD degree in Medical Sciences in June 2015. Her doctoral thesis was titled “Prevention and early intervention of lifestyle-related diseases with special evidence-based complementary medicine methods”. In addition, she is attending the Master Program of Chemical and Pharmaceutical Engineering at Graz University of Technology (since 2014).
Currently, she works one year in Klagenfurt and is finishing her practical year as pharmacist. As a research associate she is still member at the team at Medical University of Graz at the Research Unit for Complementary and Integrative Laser Medicine and the TCM Research Center Graz. Since June 2013 she is also Visiting Scientific Advisor at the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Institute of Acupuncture, Beijing, China.
She was the project leader of a project entitled “Yellow laser – A new option in preventive health research in Graz” (funded by the City of Graz, Department of Science; July 2014 – October 2015)
Dr. Litscher serves as Associate Editor and reviewer for the Journal of Pharmacopuncture and is editorial board member of Integrative and Complementary Medicine. She is further also a reviewer for Evidence-based Complementary and Alternative Medicine.
She actively participated at several scientific conferences like the Laser Helsinki Congress (Helsinki, Finland; August 2008, 2010), Conferences of the Eurasia Pacific Uninet (Beijing/Xian, China; May/June 2009, May 2011, May 2013), or Laser Congresses (Opatija, Croatia; June 2012, Toronto, Canada; November 2013 and Beverungen, Germany; June 2014 – 2016, Sandvika, Norway September 2016). In September 2012, she visited the Korean Pharmacopuncture Institute in Seoul, Korea. In May 2014 she was an invited speaker at BIT’s 1st Annual World Congress of High-Tech Acupuncture & Integrative Medicine 2014. In May 2015 she was also a speaker at BIT’s 2nd Annual World Congress of High-Tech Acupuncture & Integrative Medicine 2015.
In 2016 she received the annual Ohshiro Laser Therapy Best Paper Award as the first European researcher for her article ‘Yellow laser acupuncture’ from the Japanese Journal Laser Therapy, Journal for Laser Surgery, Phototherapy and Photobioactivation.
Dr Konstantina Theodoratou MD, Med Psych. MSc Guangzhou University, President of Icmart, President of Samag, Athens, Greece
Konstantina Theodoratou after completing her medical degree in the University of Athens and practising western medicine, went in China to study TCM and acupuncture in Tianjin and Beijing Universities. Actively following the evolution of medical acupuncture through her 18 years practise was elected as President of ICMART in 2014. She further deepened her studies in Guangzhou (Canton) medical university acquriing her MSc in Acupuncture. She is also specialised im Medical Psychology and Addiction Counseling at the University of Athens . Recently she participated in research, concerning behavior patterns in relation to acupuncture by the Academy of Athens’ Biomedical Institute. She is also the president of the Scientific Association of Medical Acupuncture in Greece (SAMAG) In the recent years she lectures in the Greek Educational Institute of Acupuncture, Samag and Greek Veterinarian Society.
Dr Michael Tarabe, MD, MSc, PhD, Dipl. BSBRM, FEBOPRAS, Plastic Surgeon, Athens, Greece
Graduate Medical School University of Athens. Received the specialty of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery in England where he practiced plastic surgery for several years. After his return to Greece he worked in the NHS where he offered his services as a Consultant in Latsio Burn Center and Plastic Surgery at Thriassion General Hospital of Elefsis West Attica. Dr George Lazarou , MD, MSc, PhD, Orthopaedic Surgeon, Athens, Greece
Orthopaedic surgeon, Residency in KAT Hospital, Kifissia, graduate of the Athens University Medical School, specialized in Hand Surgery, Sports Medicine and Children’s Orthopaedics. Holds an MSc degree in Bone Metabolic Disorders from the Medical School, University of Athens and a PhD in History of Medicine from the Medical School University of Athens. Main area of interest is osteoporosis and fractures. Use of diagnostic ultrasound for bone strength in primary care and musculoskeletal imaging using non-ionizing radiation. Through the participation in randomized treatment protocols of a long series of osteoporotic patients, he realized the extreme lack of efficient non-pharmacologic pain management which led to his fascination with acupuncture and related techniques. He is applying acupuncture in several pain management cases. Runs a private practice in Northern Attica (Drossia and Oropos), focusing in pain management for orthopedic patients, mostly in the field of osteoporosis and osteoarthritis.
Dr Aggeliki Tsirigoti, Dental Surgeon, Athens, Greece
Dr. Aggeliki Tsirigoti graduated from Dental School of Athens University in 1980 and right after she specialized at maxillofacial surgery. After she visited the Acupuncture Tianjin Hospital in China in 1993 she decided to further investigate the challenge of acupuncture application in dentistry. So she studied and got the Acupuncture Certification from Scientific Association of Medical Acupuncture, Greece. Also she deepens her studies by getting the Diploma of Acupuncture Teacher. Since then she is practicing dentistry and acupuncture in Athens. Aggeliki experts in acupuncture preoperatively and postoperatively applications. Recently she became a member of the Board of Scientific Association of Medical Acupuncture in Greece and elected as the General Secretary of the association. She works as the Head of the Acu-Dental department of ATC, teaches acupuncture in Greece and lecturing in various congresses. Dr. Tsirigoti is one of the first dentists that add acupuncture in the simple dental treatment to provide a better result to her patients. As a very well experienced dentist-acupuncturist she loves to spread her knowledge to more and more colleagues every year.
Dr Evdokia Tsalkama, DVM Equine Practitioner, Thessaloniki, Greece
Graduated from SzentIstvan University department of Veterinary Science, in Budapest Hungary. Working for the past 15 years as a veterinarian, co-owner of a mixed private veterinary clinic (small animals and equines) in Thessaloniki Northern Greece. Participated as a volunteered Vet for the equine clinic 2004 Olympics and Paralympics and CSIO **** in Athens October 2004. Studied Veterinary acupuncture and currently is in charge of the Veterinary division of the Scientific Association of Medical Acupuncture of Greece, training vets at the practical workshops of veterinary acupuncture . Member of HVA(Hellenic Veterinary Association) and HVMS ( Hellenic Veterinary Medicine Society) .Other fields of interests include working on orthopedic shoeing cases, adhesive hoof materials used for hoof restoration and hoof deformities.
Dr Achilles E. Georgiadis, MD, PhD, Rheumatologist, Athens, Greece
Dr Achilles E. Georgiadis graduated from theMedical School of the University of Athens in 1971 and he is Specialist of Internal Medicine and Rheumatology. He obtained the first PhD Degree from the Medical School of the University of Athens and a second PhD Degree from the University Rene Descartes of Paris. He worked for ten years as a Medical Director at the International Pharmaceutical Company Ciba-Geigy. The last 20 years his is Director of the Osteoporosis and Musculoskeletal Department at LITO Gynecological Hospital in Athens.Dr A. Dr Georgios J. Bellos, MD, PhD, MR CGP, MEPMA, Athens, Greece
Dr. G. Bellos was born in SACRED (officially) city of Missolonghi, student in high school there and Athens and graduated from National and Kapodistrian University in Athens-Medical School. Then trained 3 years in General Practice/Family Medicine in Athens, and 2 years in Social Medicine-Public Health Medicine Crete-Medical School at Heraklion from which he was awarded my PhD in medical education. His first appointment was in Crete as Medical Director and continued in Athens Koropi Health Centre. Member of Royal College of GP’s London after a scholarship, with special training in Mental Health Promotion and Prevention, Health care management special training and Molecular-Functional Medicine. Dr F. Christidi, MSc, PhD, Clinical Neuropsychologist, Greece
Foteini Christidi is a Clinical Neuropsychologist (PhD) and Scientific Associate at First Department of Neurology, Aeginition Hospital, Medical School, NKUA. She is also a post-doc researcher (under scholarship awarded by the Greek State Scholarship Foundation I.K.Y.) at Medical School of NKUA focused on advanced neuroimaging techniques in patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. She received a 2-year training in neuropsychological evaluation and rehabilitation at Neuropsychological Laboratory, Aeginition Hospital and was trained in advanced neuroimaging techniques (diffusion tensor imaging, brain volumetry, functional magnetic resonance imaging) at Cognitive Neuroscience Laboratory (Baylor College of Medicine & Texas Children’s Hospital, Houston, USA) and Institute of Neuroradiology (UniversitätsSpital Zürich, Switzerland), as part of her MSc and PhD studies under scholarship awarded by the NKUA and I.K.Y. Foundation, respectively. Her clinical and research interests focus οn the application of neuropsychological methods and advanced neuroimaging techniques for both structural and functional evaluation of the brain-behavior relationship in neurological and psychiatric diseases, with peer-reviewed publications in international journals and national and international conferences.
Dr E. Georgiadis MSc, Μolecular Βiologist, Athens, Greece
Ermis Georgiadis graduated from the School of Biological Sciences of the University of Essex (UK) with a degree in Cell & Molecular Biology and continued his postgraduate studies in the University of Birmingham in the field of marketing, where he focused especially in the pharmaceutical market. When he returned in Greece, he worked as a sales representative in the leading Greek pharmaceutical company VIANEX S.A.. After three years, he assumed the position of Product Manager of oncology products in cooperation with MSD. Since 2011, he is responsible for the brand strategy and marketing activities of the cardiometabolic product portfolio of VIANEX S.A. in Greece, with special focus on hypertension and hyperlipidemia.
